NY fashion week is coming to town! F/W11

As NY fashion week arrives at the speed of light (Feb 10-17) comments about the production of new collections and the strategic moves to fight the current economic crises are pouring like rain…

Fashion Week has confused consumers, they see things in the newspaper, then go to the store and see completely different things.”

It’s important for everybody to shrink the offering, make it more exciting and maybe make it more often

Diane von Furstenberg – designer and head of the Council of Fashion Designers of America

It’s a very, very challenging time, but I think imagination and perfection prevail.”

Zac Posen – designer

The recession has been very, very frightening

Vera Wang – designer

It’s up to the fashion industry to put it best foot forward and create things that will make everybody go, ‘God damn, I have to buy that,‘”

Maybe that’s what fashion’s about — putting on this facade and this gloss over everything and making it look fabulous.”

Fern Mallis – senior vice president of IMG Fashion

We’re all just trying to be a little more responsible, we have just tried to offer more, so that there’s more possibility for more people to afford things.

Marc Jacobs – designer

We need to engage the customer and make her realize how important it is that she’s not shopping for herself, but shopping to make a difference in the world and holding on to an industry that’s imperative

Donna Karan – designer

The most important thing is to get people into the stores shopping and feeling good about it,

Anna Wintour – editor in chief of  Vogue

What are you’re expectations for the fall/winter 11 shows?

My guess is that this year we’ll see different styles, with more choice at a more affordable price, and as Lanvin (Alber Elbaz)  has been doing, create a certain continuity between collections. 2010 was the year of collaborations between renown houses and massive salles stores, Valentino for Gap, Lanvin pour H&M, I’m quite sure that this phenomenon will occur again next year.

MK stands for Elegance

Want to purchase key peaces in an affordable way? The answer is within the man in the black shirt, the one whose laugh is so unforgeable and contaminating!

Yes…  it’s the polite, gentleman, charismatic Michael Kors. I mean, I could actually live only wearing his clothes. Yes… it would be (a bit!) boring, but only because I love to mix and splash. But the truth is that he’s our friend girls! He gives us the pieces we need, the watches, glasses, purses… If I was to travel right  now… I would certainly pack Kors style.

But let’s get to the point… Spring Summer… it’s such an amazing collection. I surely wish the sun would come up to wear it!

Chique, elegant, comfortable, colorful, resourceful, diversified, basically to die for!

Can you not imagine yourself on a hot sunny day looking your best wearing those dresses? What about that long green skirt?

Jason Wu @ Shiseido line Supreme Aupres

Yesterday Jason Wu unveiled his makeup collaboration with the high-end Shiseido line Supreme Aupres. Last week in New York, he modeled two of the jewel-compacted eye shadows for ITG.

But the eye shadows first came onto the scene at Wu’s Spring 2011 show, where makeup artist Diane Kendal swept them into the corners of models’ eyes as a shimmery accent to the boldly hued lids she created. Wu says “I’m all about color, and they’re based on my clothing, they’re like the icing on the cake. These are dessert cosmetics!”

DIANE VON FURSTENBERG

You know I’m a huge fan of Net-a-Porter, not only because it gives us the perfect excuse to buy on-line, but mostly for the info and quality of the productions. Well, as I was on my research I found the their new video, featuring Diane! And it’s quite true, she’s much more than a wrap dress!

Diane has the bigger goal of giving women flattering clothes, amazing colors, unique prints, outrageous accessories! How can you dislike her?

I must admit that one of my favorite boyfriend gifts was one clutch oh her past winter collection, so lovely and aggressive! He really got me with that one!

Her Spring Summer collection this year was amazing!

My favorite look was this one and the yellow mustard dress.

So fun and clean! Congrats Diane

Girly DKNY for the Spring!

Femme fatale or sweet and girly?  Mysterious or innocent?

In the next Spring/Summer it’s entirely up to you.  Whatever you choose is certainly valid! I’ll assure you I’m trying it all the next year!

She was the designer of one of my favourites collections from New York. She is, actually, celebrating 20 years of a successful career with the lunch of a biographical book.

The one who has given us the clothes that fits like no other, the only Donna Karan!

I must say her  collection for  Donna Karan wasn’t my favourite, to beige for my taste, however the DKNY was amazing!

I loved the way she used the scarf as the permanent element during the show! I’m so buying one of the skirts… the pants.

It’s just perfect for work, to a night out with your friends, for a date, the simple summer  (yet incredible) collection.

Secretively gorgeous, Marc’s way

No need for words. Marc outdone himself with three amazing collections! Still don’t know for sure what’s my favourite! Love the richness of the colours, the hats, the fabrics… How does he do it?

Is anything sexier than a flower on the air in the hot summer?

The bright colours in Marc!

And do I need to talk about LV? Seriously haven’t seen it?

You really need to keep up… I’m kind of disappointed!

Just kidding! I know you saw it, but it’s here for prosperity.

This set still gives me the chills!

Love the lips, the mystery! I’m going forward in the whole suspense thing next summer!

Dublin is ruling but London is Calling!

Sorry followers… I’m in debt to you… but the truth is I’m on vacation in Dublin. The city is amazing, full nice restaurants and bars… the Irish pubs! I’m loving it. I shall advice you to go to Brown Thomas, an amazing mega store with all designers we love, if you are looking for more pocket friendly clothes go to Urban Outfitters, there you’ll find nice items and lovely accessories!

But I’m actually writing to say that tomorrow I’m back at work and London fashion week starts today! How excited are you? I surely am!

When this madness is over I’ll tell you the juicy things, New York was all over the place, Christian Siriano with the red dress, Proenza Schouler, Marc By Marc as usual (I want that yellow dress),  Marchesa, MKors, Halston… some great stuff!

Let’s see what London brings us, I’m so looking forward to see my Girl Stella!
