The gentlewoman – Phoebe Philo

I must say that this year the British Fashion Awards really nailed it! Alexander McQuenn received the “BFC Outstanding Achievement in Fashion Design“, Lara Stone was the “Model of the year” and Mulberry was the “Designer Brand of the Year“.

However, and I don’t know if you’ll agree, but in my opinion Phoebe Philo was the most deserving price, she received the “Designer of the Year” for her work at Celine, and let’s be honest she was able to turn the brand around and in an extremely successful way.

Being a graduate from Central Saint Martins she, of course, knows the best cut, having worked with Stella also helps. However, what’s makes Phoebe so special is her street cool touch. She gave Celine the “it” factor that the brand needed so deeply. I’m very excited to see what she will  show in the next seasons, I think it’s important that she maintains Celine young chique look with a little Phoebe twist.

My favorites of Phoebe Philo for Celine this year:

My favorite of 2010

It is quite a bold thing to say, however she deserves it and my favourite item of the year has to be Stella McCarteney’s coat!

It is such an intemporal piece, has an incredible cut (have you tried it on? Please do!!) and makes you fell like a million pounds. You really can’t go wrong with this one… It is the  investiment to make! It suits all kinds of bodies, and colors, the fabric is soft, you can wear it with a dress, trousers or a skirt, it really doesn’t matter the focus will always be your coat! Altought it has straight lines, a certain masculine touch, you’ll always look girly and feminine in it.

The perfect shoes to match the dress!

And in the theme of the working dress where are some proposals to matching shoes!

The first is a little bit more edgy for the brave stylish girls! The others are purchases for the future! Always nice to have some pairs that last more than just a season!

Would you fly with Pilotto?

Among the current group of young designers who are being lodged and mentored in the free studio space of London’s Centre for Fashion Enterprise, Peter Pilotto is the one whose sales graph is, against all the economic odds, heading skyward.

Why?

- Drapping

- Prints

- Flattering

- Short.

Certainly someone to follow!

In the September Issue of “City” Heidi Klum dresses up like Marlene Dietrich! And does it suit her!

You know I like her… She has the accent, she’s funny and charismatic, she was an Angel… AND she hostes Project Runway!

I love her cover! What do you think?

Really Diamonds?

Girls my best friend will always be my grandmothers vintage bag, and that’s about it.

Although,  because I am so afraid of crying it around… I have to find alternatives right?! Poor me…

Let’s check my options shall we?

I’m thinking about buying one small and one big… But can I resist the other ones?  Which one should I choose?

If you want to know the brand just click above the bag.

You know the drill I’m a big fan of net a porter so… you’ll find everything there!

Lacoste breaking news

Morning everyone!

How are you in this lovely day?!

So… as I was doing my regular morning visit to Twitter, I found the shocking news that Felipe Oliveira Baptista has been named the new artistic director of Lacoste and will start his new position this Wednesday.

This will be his first attempt in men’s wear… so I guess good luck is in order! And I should add that in this case I have a particular good reason to be happy since Felipe is Portuguese and so am I.

Felipe will be filling the spot left by Christophe Lemaire, that left Lacoste to become creative director at Hermès. Soo, big shoes to fill!

Hope Felipe can continue the sophisticated and fun look Lacoste was presenting every year! This will certainly be a good challenge for him.

As usual where are some photos, first of Lemaire for Lacoste and then Felipes own brand!

Love Lolla
